Triangle (composition) Below Canal

Also known as TriBeCa, where we had brunch Sunday morning. I love(d) coming down here--especially when I used to live much closer--because it's one of the more calming places in the city. Slightly more sophisticated than other places in Manhattan without being snobby. Everyone's comfortable and visibly less stressed out (or that could be due to the mimosas).

Riding bikes, pushing strollers, walking dogs, brunching--sure these things mix together in other neighborhoods, but only a few other places feel like TriBeCa...

I saw this guy at the subway station--he reminded of the singer, Ibrahim Ferrer, of Buena Vista Social Club fame.

LAC: Dec. 2010

This was for one of the Lazy Artist Club challenges last December.

The topic was: "Favorite Memory of 2010."

ROUND ONE: BRAAAAINS!!

Fellow LAC member and illustrator, Pope Phoenix suggested the topic of "Zombie Street Fighter" and I went with it. I wasn't really into the zombie genre until this year when TV series like "Dead Set" and "The Walking Dead" came out. But I've always loved the Street Fighter series--the designs were beautiful and the colors primary but with purpose (similar to Super Mario Bros.).

One day, maybe I'll post some SF2drawings from high school. But we'll see...

Also, thanks to the Fix's, Colin and Anne, for the zombie inspiration!

Seein' kinda Patton...

One of my favorite comedians, Patton Oswalt, as the subject here. He was the voice of Remy in Ratatouille, played Spence in "The King of Queens," and is a writer of comics and books.

A "slash" person (does this-slash-this-slash-this, etc.) aka "multi-talented."

Pee-Wee

We went to see the Broadway production of the Pee-Wee Herman Show and it was amazing to see a concept so out-of-the-box still holds up even today. After that, we saw Sylvain Chomet's "The Illusionist".

The poses, the silhouettes, and the comedic timing of both Paul Reubens and the characters of "The Illusionist" were definitely something to behold...

O Cyclops, Where Art Thou?

Done for the "Cyclops" project for the Lazy Artists Club. "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" is one of my favorite all-time movies.

Boogie Down Box


This playset came about from living in New York City and being around its dance culture. Each section represents different places where you might see people dancing: the practice studio, the club scene, the subway, even in front of a bodega.

It even folds into a nice boombox! (I'm looking at YOU, fellow 80's kids!)

Friends featured: Erik Otto, Jimbo, Scott, Ephrat, Hanna, Cam, Tine. Also Ferris Bueller and Mr. T (who I don't know personally) and myself (who I know sorta well).

Also, thanks to everyone who suggested a name for the playset!
